Worcestershire Street 6s

Having delivered street6’s in 2016 and 2017 you raised enough funding to pilot our street cricket in Redditch. This has since seen us make a successful bid to appoint a full time member of staff who has now set up 3 hubs in Redditch, Worcester and Dudley, supporting kids for 40 weeks of the year. These hubs are now regularly supporting over 200 young children every week, whereby they enjoy free cricket sessions and have been learning about other important skills such as teamwork, communication and awareness of drug abuse and domestic violence.

These are all young people who thanks to your help are now engaging and learning off each other and feel a part of something. So on behalf of my team and more importantly the kids involved, thank you for what you did last year, you are really helping us make a difference to young people across the county.

What is Street6s?

A softball charity cricket event supported by the Worcestershire Ambassadors, played in the middle of Worcester’s High Street – Angel Place. Our mission is to raise funds and awareness to take cricket to places it isn’t normally played, supporting young children from underprivileged backgrounds right here in Worcestershire.

We are targeting businesses who want to enter a team of 6-10 people to play fun, softball cricket – no previous bat and ball experience required!  Just a desire to have fun, take part and make a difference through the power of cricket!

We will give you everything you need:

Training – so you know the rules;

Personalised team kit – so you look the part;

Equipment – so you aren’t left stumped!

More importantly we will give you access to the after party at Blackfinch New Road whilst enjoying a drink, some food and watching England Lions take on India A in front of the iconic view of Worcester Cathedral.

Our Aim

To have fun and connect people through the unique power of cricket.  Bringing your teams together to share a great experience, playing somewhere where there are no ball games allowed and in turn raise awareness and funds to support young people right here in Worcestershire.

Through our Wicketz hubs we engage with young children in some of the hardest to reach communities.  An example of our work is a young boy in Redditch, who’s older brother is a prolific drug dealer.  This boy was at risk of following in his brothers footsteps and was regularly getting into trouble with the police.  By engaging in the hub this young boy is now engaged in the week and learning valuable life skills.  Likewise he is now on first name terms with the police and has a new found respect for them, as well as starting to make positive choices about his future career, all of which wouldn’t be possible without your support in the work of our hubs.

Where will the funds go?

Our aim this year is to donate pitches to the local hubs. If you’re interested in sponsoring a pitch on the day and to donate to a local hub please contact tom.hill@wccc.co.uk to find out more information.

What will you get in return?

A tailor made pitch with your company logo on it and made to your corporate colours

Promotion on the street6’s event itself i.e. The “Worcestershire Ambassadors pitch”

The opportunity to donate your pitch to a hub of your choice – with some excellent publicity in the local press

A connection and brand association with a very worthy cause
